What's it all about? The Children's Workforce Development Council (CWDC) is consulting with early years employers about the content for the forthcoming Level 2 and Level 3 apprenticeships for the children and young people's workforce.
The new apprenticeship framework must comply with the Specification of Apprenticeship Standards in England by 6 April 2011, a requirement made statutory by the Apprenticeships, Skills, Children and Learning Act 2009.
What are the main points? Views are sought on whether the proposed study content misses anything, or if any of the new content is unnecessary. Respondents can download descriptions of the apprenticeship study units, and will be asked to comment on whether these units suitably cover the skills and knowledge required at that level. It will also ask respondents their views on whether additional employer requirements (paediatric first aid, for example) should become mandatory.
