The Government has issued a prospectus on the common core of skills and knowledge that it wants all children's workers to have.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Sometimes, a lot of knowledge is hazardous as well. When do you know that you know enough to do your job well?

Pass. It's interesting that the Government is going to be investing so much of its attention and energy on workforce developments now, as part of the Every Child Matters programme. They've just issued their prospectus on the common core of skills and knowledge, and the list of organisational signatories signed up to it is impressive.

Such as? Obviously, the sector skills councils for health, justice, social care, sport and recreation. Also the General Social Care Council, Teacher Training Agency and Association of Chief Police Officers. With some of our voluntary sector colleagues as well to represent the interests of children and young people, their parents and families.
