Connexions: Voluntary sector to run advice services

The initiative is a partnership between Connexions North London and Forest YMCA, which will employ a team leader and eight advisers or voluntary groups to deliver services.

Connexions will deliver training and work with Forest YMCA to ensure the young people's progress is recorded.

The advisers will provide outreach support to young people not in education, employment or training, in Worth Unlimited, an organisation in Waltham Forest, and other voluntary organisations in the four boroughs covered by the partnership.

Clare Shinner, chief executive of Forest YMCA, said: "The young people we deal with are people who perhaps Connexions would need to be in contact with, so we thought: how can we link all of that together?"
