Consultants are examining a set of options for Connexions Tyne and Wear, which include disbanding the organisation and distributing frontline services between five local authorities in a similar move to Connexions Tees Valley (YPN, 30 August-5 September 2006, p6).
Consultants are expected to make a proposal for the future of Connexions Tyne and Wear next month and a decision is expected at the beginning of May.
Karen Loughlin, Unison regional officer, said: "Staff are concerned about the future."
Connexions Tees Valley will cease to function at the end of this week. From 1 April, a team within Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council will provide data on young people to all five councils.
