Connexions: South Central offers bonus to advisers

The initiative aims to attract staff to take up hard-to-fill posts in Hampshire. The partnership attributes its difficulty to a "national shortage" of advisers.

Lisa Gridley, human resources manager for the partnership, said: "Careers guidance staff are like gold dust. The policy was approved in September."

The partnership changed from a subcontracted model to direct delivery in August 2004, saving 1m, which has led to an expansion of personal adviser roles.
