Connexions Direct is handled centrally in Newcastle, where advisers provide regional information for local partnerships. It is contactable via the web, email, telephone and text messaging.
Anthony Burt, marketing manager at Connexions South Central, said: "Web-chat allows secure messaging between young people and an adviser. It is a bit more removed from meeting an adviser, but it could be the first point of contact."
The service is being launched as part of a year-long transition phase in the South Central area, which covers Southampton, Hampshire, Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight.
