CONNEXIONS: Survey accuses direct advisers of silencing critical viewpoints

1 min read

Researchers at TNS Social scrapped their findings on 13- to 19-year-olds' views of Connexions Direct's telephone advice service because they considered the evidence unreliable. Of 890 calls logged, 157 led to full interviews, so only 18 per cent of callers were put through.

The survey findings stated: "While there is no categorical evidence that users whose opinions of the service were potentially less favourable were excluded from the telephone survey, we suspect that this may be the case." It said the referral process was an arbitrary one that rested on the "views, attitudes and judgments of advisers".

TNS could only interview teenagers after they agreed with Connexions to be surveyed.
