CONNEXIONS: Merseyside brings in careers awards

1 min read

The Quality Award for Careers Education and Guidance will be awarded to schools and colleges that meet the criteria assessed by inspectors from Connexions.

Sylvia Walker, careers education and guidance curriculum manager at the partnership, said: "It is important that the quality of careers advice provision in these institutions is assessed and there is an an opportunity for schools to develop a portfolio of evidence and have their performance measured."

Connexions puts personal advisers (PAs) into schools to help with careers advice and guidance. But PAs will be exempt from the assessment process.

On adding to a school's workload, Walker said: "The award will be optional for schools to achieve, but it will be highly regarded by Ofsted inspectors."
