
Campaign group Every Disabled Child Matters (EDCM) found none of the 30 primary care trusts (PCTs) it questioned in a survey could supply a figure for how much they have to spend on disabled children.
Steve Broach, EDCM's campaign manager, said PCTs were either confused about funding and were waiting for guidance from the Department of Health or they could not guarantee money would be spent on disabled children. "Neither of these situations is acceptable in our view. We need some clarity," said Broach.
In 2007, the government promised to spend £430m delivering its Aiming High for Disabled Children strategy, made up of ringfenced cash from the Department for Children, Schools and Families and non-ringfenced cash from the Department of Health.
