At the Unicef Children's Climate Change Forum in Copenhagen, I spoke to delegates from the Maldives who are at severe risk from rising sea levels. This made me realise the importance of young people voicing their concerns on climate change.
I feel that decision makers of the developed world should drastically reduce their emissions immediately. Furthermore, developing countries should be provided with funding to help them cope with the impact of climate change.
On behalf of all children around the world, I am advocating strong action on climate change. Young people are already engaging their local communities in this issue and are forming a global network of climate ambassadors. In my own area, I am an active member of my local volunteer centre. I also organised my own initiative, as part of the international 350 campaign, where I collected messages from my local community about why people care about climate change and raised awareness of the importance of forming a fair, ambitious and binding deal at Copenhagen. I hope the rest of the world will listen to our voices and join us to fight for our future.
