I was very excited to win, and discovered I was to attend the UN Convention on Climate Change Conference where governments would be discussing a successor to the Kyoto Protocol.
My role was to represent young people from the UK, share my ideas on tackling climate change, challenge ministers and help design a process for children worldwide to get their voices heard during the Copenhagen Climate Change Conference in 2009.
The conference took place over 10 days, and young representatives of Sweden, the Philippines and Indonesia joined me. Things really started to hit me at our first press conference, when we were interviewed by BBC and Sky, which gave me a sense of being able to make a difference.
