ChildRIGHT: Interview -- Online advice aimed at young people

The Children's Legal Centre has developed a website, www.lawstuff.org.uk, to deliver information and advice to young people.

What was the purpose behind Lawstuff?

Lawstuff has been developed in recognition of a lack of legal information available aimed specifically at young people. The initiative behind the project was to increase access to justice for young people and to encourage them to become more interested in their legal rights.

The Children's Legal Centre already has a lot of legal information on its main website, but this is aimed mostly at parents and professionals who work with young people, rather than young people themselves.

We wanted to develop a website that was interactive and not too text heavy. We've added tools such as "Mythbusters" to engage young people and educate them about the law in a non-conventional way.
