ChildRIGHT: Interview -- Legal advice on education issues

1 min read
Tom Farrell, paralegal, The Children's Legal Centre.

The Children's Legal Centre works with Community Legal Advice (CLA) to provide free legal advice and information on education matters, through its National Education Line. Can you tell us a bit about the CLA National Education Line?

The CLA National Education Line provides free education law advice to callers from across England and Wales. We provide advice on all stages of education, from nursery school to university. If a caller requires further assistance, we may be able to take on their case, and act on their behalf.

Is it normally parents, children or professionals who call the line?

The majority of our callers are concerned parents. We occasionally receive calls from children, especially from older children who feel confident enough to seek their own legal advice. Sometimes we receive calls from professionals, including teachers, social workers and advocates.
