Children's Trusts: Study to examine funds allocation

The study will attempt to establish how trusts are spending the money they receive, with the aim of improving resource management and governance.

Roger Sykes, head of studies at the commission, said: "We are particularly interested in looking at how resources arealigned or pooled."

The commission instigated the project after responses from a range of national studies suggested the work be carried out.

Research will begin in September and run for three months, with the report to be published in March 2008.

Sykes said the work builds on the Department for Education and Skills' evaluation of children's trusts pathfinders but is also trying to establish a national picture.
