Children's services: 4Children presents 2006 star awards

ChildLine founder Esther Rantzen took home an award for a lifetime of achievement at 4Children's Childcare Stars Awards last week.

Rantzen received the Wedgwood Lifetime Achievement Award for her effortsto improve children's lives.

The awards, which are supported by Children Now, also saw Sure StartCarlisle South named Sure Start Children's Centre Team of the Year andWychall Primary School in Northfield, Birmingham crowned ExtendedSchools Team of the Year.

Other winners included Buckinghamshire Community Childminding Network'steam in High Wycombe (childcare team of the year) and Sunderland CityCouncil (best achievement in children's services).

An award also went to consumer goods manufacturer Unilever UK for itschildcare support for employees.
