Childcare Stars: 4Children begins quest for the best

1 min read
Winning a national award made a real difference to Leicester-based childminder Naseem Rafiq, who was named Childminder of the Year at the Childcare Stars Awards 2004.

Not only are parents clamouring for her services but the award was also recognition of more than 15 years' dedication to childminding.

"It has given me more confidence," says Rafiq, who cares for up to five children a day.

"Childcare doesn't get the recognition it deserves and awards like this are a good way of raising awareness."

The search is now on for the best childcare professionals of 2005 with the launch of the eighth Childcare Stars Awards yesterday (Tuesday).

The awards, organised by childcare charity 4Children and sponsored by the Government's Sure Start Unit, feature two new categories this year.

The Prima Childcare Team of the Year is for groups of two or more people who have made a huge difference to the lives of young children and families.
