Mohammed works at an HSBC branch in Middlesbrough and has an 18-month-old daughter, Fakhra. Although HSBC is well known for the childcare support it offers staff - it was the first employer in Britain to offer work-based nurseries - Mohammed has missed out as there are no HSBC nursery places in the Middlesbrough area.
"I was very disappointed that, despite HSBC having this scheme, Fakhra couldn't benefit," he says.
From October, however, this will change as the organisation expands the childcare support it offers to staff. "I've found out that under the new scheme a larger number of nurseries will be available, which will give me the flexibility of choosing a nursery near my work location," says Mohammed.
