1 min read
Anne Nelson, chief executive of the British Association for Early Childhood Education and vice chair of the Early Childhood Forum at NCB, has received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the recent Early Years 2008 awards organised by Early Years Educator magazine.

The award was for individual outstanding contribution to early years over her lifetime. Anne's past achievements have included seeing the expansion of nursery education from 50 per cent of the child population to 92 per cent as early years adviser in Coventry and her later appointment as head of early years and childcare there.

Since 2006, Anne has been vice chair of the Early Childhood Forum, which comprises 55 national membership organisations from across the maintained, voluntary, private and independent sectors.

Anne said: "I am delighted to receive this award. I have seen early years grow from being in the wilderness to being at the forefront of the national agenda and it has been a privilege to work with early years children and practitioners.
