Speaking to Children Now, Tim Loughton said that his party's electionstrategy of focusing on just six policies had resulted in its children'spolicies being downplayed. But he also said that the party had realisedits mistake and now intended to make children's policies a priority.
"In the past we have not been seen to be concerned enough with theseissues," said Loughton. "David Cameron is determined to raise theprofile of children's policies in the party and we have now set up achildren's issue group that will develop policy in a way that cutsacross government departments."
The children's issue group, which brings together all Conservativefrontbenchers whose remit involves children and young people, met forthe first time last week.
