Tim Loughton is due to address the closing session at the Children NowFund conference, entitled "What if the Conservatives won the election?".It comes after children's minister Beverley Hughes warned there is "anunresolved battle" over family policy in the Conservative party(Children Now, 4-11 October).
Loughton told Children Now: "I will talk about how the Every ChildMatters agenda is safe in our hands. I'll also speak about how we'vealways supported Sure Start, but are concerned it risks moving away fromits founding principles." Loughton will also flesh out plans for asocial workers commission and express his party's concerns about thenational children's database.
"And I'm sure I'll be asked about 'hug a hoodie'," he said.
