The extra money will bring its total budget for next year to 160m and means the overall cut in funding is five instead of 15 per cent. There will also be a "contingency fund" available for exceptional circumstances.
Children's Fund managers were notified of the additions in a letter they received late last Friday from Anne Weinstock of the Children, Young People and Families Directorate.
The letter did not give details of allocations to individual funds, management of funds or money for 2005/06.
Gill Lamarque, operational manager for Birmingham Children's Fund, said: "While we hope this indicates there might be a softening, not having that information makes it difficult to plan and commission."
