Children's fund: DfES gives 411m to partnerships

1 min read
Children's Fund partnerships will learn later this month how the Government expects them to use the 411.5m allocated to them for 2005/6 to 2007/8.

Partnerships were told of their allocations at the end of last week, and initial feedback suggests a slight reduction in funding. During September, the DfES will publish guidance on how the money should be used.

Children's minister Margaret Hodge wrote to all Children's Fund programmes just before the bank holiday weekend informing them of allocations.

Children's charities were pleased that funding will be able to be carried over between years.

Cheryl Eastwood, NCH's director of children's services in the North West, said: "It looks like the amount allocated to the Children's Fund has been slightly reduced, but there is a lot of flexibility about how the money can be used and this should make any reductions easier for programmes to manage.
