Sure Start Speke, which became a charity in March, hopes to work closelywith the long-established Speke Training and Enterprise Centre. It haslaunched a feasibility study to look at expanding some of its servicesand locating them at the training centre, which is nearby.
Development manager Robbie Davison said the partnership would mean theSure Start could play a prominent role in shaping local services forchildren and families.
"We're in a purpose-built building that's only two years old but wedon't have the space to expand," he said. "The charity has been helpingunemployed people for the last 25 years and it's got the stage where itneeds to refocus and rebuild. It makes sense for us to work together. The aim is to establish a children's enterprise zone and take the leadin local strategies for children and play."
