Children's centres: Leaders course is 'highly relevant'

The first graduates of a qualification for children's centre managers say it has improved their understanding of integrated working.

Forty managers undertook the National Professional Qualification inIntegrated Centre Leadership and were commended by children's ministerBeverley Hughes at a presentation ceremony yesterday (25 October).

The qualification was piloted by the National College for SchoolLeadership with the Pen Green Research, Training and Development Centreand is now being extended across England. Four hundred students willstart the course this month.

Liz Chapman, programme manager for Sure Start Thorpe Hamlet in Norwich'said she had found the course highly relevant to her role managing amulti-agency service.
