The trust decided to increase the number of courses it runs by 600 after a survey by the charity found half of parents did not feel confident about looking after a newborn baby.
Belinda Phipps, chief executive of the National Childbirth Trust, said: "Becoming a parent is an exciting experience but can also be very challenging. By increasing the number of antenatal and early days postnatal courses, we can reach out and offer more people our support."
The increase brings the total number of courses run by the charity over the next 12 months to 5,000.
