Caudwell Children

Provides help with treatment and holidays for children battling life-threatening conditions

What is it? Caudwell Children was created in March 2000 to make direct donations to sick and disabled children, originally in the Staffordshire area. In 2004 the charity went nationwide, and to date has provided services worth in excess of £17m to thousands of children with more than 350 different medical conditions.

What will it fund? The fund is non-condition specific. It provides treatment, equipment, therapy and family support services. It also provides “dream holidays” for children battling life-threatening conditions, which involves a seven-day family trip (siblings under 18 included), to Florida. Each trip is supported by on-call paediatricians, paramedics and a volunteer support team.

The programme also provides families with a support network on their return to the UK.

Meanwhile, the charity’s “enable sport” initiative helps disabled children engaged in competitive sport reach their full potential, providing gifted and talented disabled children and young people with the specially adapted equipment they require to take part in competitive sports.

The Realising Every Autistic Child’s Hopes (Reach) programme aims to help support autistic children in the UK through various treatments and interventions.

How much is on offer? There is no set amount for services offered through the fund. To qualify, the child on whose behalf the application is being made must be aged 18 or under, living in the UK, and household income (not including benefits) must be under £45,000 a year.

When is the deadline? There is no set deadline.
