What is it? The Newlife Foundation for Disabled Children supports the families of disabled young people under the age of 19. It has provided more than £7m worth of grants for equipment since 1991, helping more than 5,000 children across the UK. In addition to grants, it offers free loans of essential equipment, which can be delivered within 72 hours to help terminally ill children.
How much is on offer? The total amount varies from year to year depending on the income of the charity. The charity does not means test, but does take into account the circumstances of families. The equipment applied for must be essential and the disability of the child significant. Meanwhile, all applications need to be supported by a professional involved in the child’s care.
