The association is writing to members of the standing committee currently considering the bill, pushing for the move.
An association spokesman said: "Although the legislation does not preclude the chief inspector from looking at information, advice and guidance arrangements, we want a specific provision in there."
In Youth Matters: Next Steps, the Department for Education and Skills said it would develop quality standards for information, advice and guidance, against which Ofsted could inspect. Draft standards will be produced by November.
Chris Evans, executive director of the Institute of Career Guidance, said: "The inspection of information, advice and guidance is critical. There's not enough rigour in the process."
