Inspections: Advice services fear weaker inspection

The National Association of Connexions Partners (NACP) will address the issue in its response to the consultation on the new information, advice and guidance quality standards. The Institute for Career Guidance shares its concern.

Carolyn Caldwell, executive director at NACP, said: "Information, advice and guidance will only be a small part of schools inspections. Local authority inspections are also becoming less detailed, so information, advice and guidance is unlikely to be dealt with thoroughly enough."

A spokesman from the Department for Education and Skills said: "Performance will be judged by Ofsted, through Joint Area Reviews, school and college inspections and surveys, which will include the views of young people and parents."
