Business Training: Sure Start extends A4e free courses

Childcare providers can continue to get free business training after the Sure Start Unit extended the contract of training company A4e.

It will hold 1,150 workshops for 12 months from June and has extended its Business Success for Childcare programme to more rural and disadvantaged areas.

In a report this year, the National Audit Office said lack of business planning was one of the main reasons for doubt over the sustainability of childcare provision (Children Now, 3-9 March).

Some 16,500 childcarers have attended workshops since the programme's launch a year ago.
