Childcare: Business training is to be extended

A programme offering business training to childcare providers is to be extended after its contract with the Sure Start Unit ends.

The Business Success for Childcare programme, run by A4e, has already reached more than 30,000 delegates from local authorities. It will complete the second phase of its work for the Sure Start Unit in June but the unit has agreed that A4e can continue to use the title and brand name.

Local authorities will be able to use their general Sure Start grant to pay for places on the courses.

A4e will offer Gold, Silver and Bronze packages of training and prices will be tailored to councils' needs.

The company will primarily target local authority settings but will also market its courses to some private providers.
