More research is needed into male single parents and parents from ethnicminorities with mental health problems, a new study has revealed.
The paper on parental mental health and interventions, from the SocialCare Institute for Excellence, found there was also little research intothe impact of housing, employment and financial advice on the mentalhealth of parents.
The study catalogued all the research published in English that havebeen done on the extent and impact of parental mental health onfamilies. It also lists studies on how effective different types ofsupport and treatment are. It found 754 pieces of work that met thecriteria. These were listed under various headings, including the mainresearch methods used, the type of people that the study focused on andthe problems and interventions covered, and put into an onlinedatabase.
