What is the new inspection regime? It's about proportionate and economicinspection. Which really means a short, sharp two-day inspection withminimal notice to prepare. Inspections are undertaken by smaller teams,and self-evaluation forms provide much of the evidence upon which theinspectors base their judgments. These, plus the quick school visit andconversations with staff and pupils, culminate in a brief report. Thoseschools that don't quite come up to scratch are deemed to requirespecial measures or given notice to improve.
