School inspections, then ... Ooooh, I love a good inspection framework!
Work must be getting to you. What is a 'good' inspection framework?
It starts with intelligent accountability. They call it cutting-edge policy.
So they may; let me reach for the scissors. Just what are the proposals?
Firstly, shorter, sharper inspections lasting for up to two days and based on self-evaluation evidence. The verdict? Mixed, since it is unlikely that pupils and their parents will have much opportunity to have input into the inspection process itself in such a short time. Secondly, less notice given to schools about inspection in order to reduce stress levels and avoid loading schools with too much pre-inspection preparation. Verdict here? Good, but slightly disingenuous. At least it avoids the famous "please keep your (difficult) child at home for the week so he isn't there to disrupt his classes".
