Big interview: The charity that likes change - Sally Copley, director of policy, research and campaigns, YWCA

The young women's charity has refocused its core work on youth work projects and campaigns for young women following the final transfer of its housing stock to social landlords last September.

"We ended the provision of housing for young women because we recognised that other people could provide that type of work better," says Copley, formerly a campaign manager at Shelter, who joined the YWCA in March.

"Our real specialism is in being a voice for young women, so we wanted to bring our project work to the forefront."

Supporting women in "underdog" positions such as teenage mothers or young lesbians is the YWCA's forte.
