Back Page: Social Claire - Someone to go the extra mile

1 min read
Claire is thrilled when a worker volunteers to step in and save the day.

We've been working with Brian for about six months. He's 12 and lovely, but finds it hard to make friends and mix with others due to his autism. He really enjoys attending our group.

We organised a trip to the beach. One of our objectives was to try andget carers, the children they look after and their own children to havea day out together. We hear all the time from some of our children thatthey don't feel included in family events. And we need carers there aswe've only a small staff team and can't look after every child.

The numbers streamed in, and although Brian's carer couldn't come, sheagreed that her daughter would look after him. He was beside himselfwith excitement - he had never been to the seaside before.
