Back Page: Social Claire - Bullying must not be tolerated

1 min read
Claire is annoyed when a worker doesn't follow up on a bullying incident.

It's Anti-Bullying Week and this year's theme is See it, Get Help, StopIt. Our council is launching its anti-bullying policy during thecampaign. Until now there has been little in place, and what was theredidn't address the needs of our children.

Some of the children we work with suffer dreadfully at school. "Your mumdoesn't love or want you - she put you in a home," was a line thrown atone of our girls recently. And yet approach some schools and you alwaysget the same response. "We've not got a problem here. These childrenbring it on themselves." It makes me fume but, hopefully, the new policywill bring an end to this denial.
