Some celebrities do fantastic work with, and on behalf of, childrenthrough fundraising and by raising public awareness. But we were thrownwhen we heard that a D-list reality television "celebrity" wanted tovisit our project. With the furore surrounding Celebrity Big Brother Iwasn't sure whether it was a good idea, and also who would benefit most,as the lady in question has seen her telly career nosedive recently.
Also, I worry that reality types don't consider that there are childrenand young people watching, and about the impact they can have. This wasborne out last week when I overheard two girls talking about CelebrityBig Brother. "That Shilpa, I hate her - Jade would have won if it wasn'tfor her," one sneered, to my despair.
