The first night seems mainly to be about blagging as much free food and drink as possible. Seize some tasty bangers and mash from the National Association of Local Councils and some equally appealing canapes from the New Statesman. Despite the diktat from the party's high command, I spot a number of Conservative luminaries sipping champagne. Sadly I don't have my camera, so miss out on a lucrative tabloid expose.
Monday: It's an early start for The National Youth Agency/Children & Young People Now fringe event. The discussion covers a range of issues, but the professionalisation of youth work seems to cause the most controversy. Find myself arguing that youth work qualifications are largely irrelevant to an individual's ability to engage young people.
