Back Page: My Week - Holiday handovers as chaos reigns at home

Monday Not long until my holiday. I must stop my brain going off in advance. There's lots to do before I go.

Tuesday A day of meetings designed mainly to keep everything on track during the holiday season disruptions. There's no loss of pace in terms of deadlines - just fewer people around to do the work and some complex handovers to ensure the group that did the thinking last week on how to develop our support materials on performance management links with the group that will take on the baton next week.

We must hit the ground running in September when the next phase of work starts. I reflect on how well our programme management skills hold things together and wish I had applied more of these when I was trying to get things done in my previous life as a director of children's services.
