Today I ring my student son, for his Christmas list. His answerphone clicks in yet again - "Go ahead, waste your credit, leave a message". It is unmistakeably the truculent tones of my son so I "waste my credit" with yet another ET-like instruction to ring home.
TUESDAY - I am in the South West to speak at a regional event. I have stayed overnight at a determinedly festive hotel. I might not have my son's Christmas list but this hotel has trees, lights, the works.
WEDNESDAY - Back from the South West for a few meetings in London. I try to get my head round what it must be like to be a head teacher considering the implications of having a children's centre at their school.
