Whoever said that it's grim oop north got things very wrong indeed.
But getting up north? Well that's a completely different matter. Most of the time that experience can certainly be described as grim.
Last Friday I travelled by train up to the Northwest. And once again I had to stand. This time all the way from London Euston to Manchester Piccadilly. That's three hours and 20 minutes if you were wondering.
Then, just when I thought things couldn't get much worse, the next part of my journey started to fall apart when the minicab driver finally admitted that he was lost.
