Last week I achieved one of my goals. All our management team, full-time youth worker and personal adviser posts were filled. After months and months spent recruiting we reached full capacity. We're not a huge service, but this felt like a real achievement. But if you blinked you would have missed it. Our success was short-lived.

One of our full-time team then announced he had a new job. Looking on the bright side, it was nice while it lasted, even if it was only four days.

Recruitment and retention is tough. Not enough good people and too many good jobs mean the marketplace is very competitive. Even when you make an appointment, getting a worker into the job can take months.
