Daytime or evening. Weekday or weekend. Forget the city that never sleeps, we're the service that never seems to go home. We must be the original Open All Hours. The 7-Eleven of the voluntary sector.

Sure, we now have a lot more daytime activities than we used to. But these have extended the hours that we are open rather than replace evening sessions. Evening work remains the main format for much youth work delivered across the country. And it's a format we've got good at working to.

But stop and think about how strange it can all look to the nine to fivers.
