Discos seem to be just like buses. You wait for ages for one to come along and then two turn up at once. And true to form, I'd not heard so much as a Y, M, C or A for months and then last week I get not one, but two discos.

First was the Association of Principal Youth and Community Officers conference.

One of the highlights of the conference is the after-dinner disco. Somehow the disco seems to have become the stuff of legends. Civil servants from all over the land come and marvel at it. No-one seems to really care that it takes place on a Monday, the least disco day of the week. All anyone is interested in is seeing principal youth officers going wild for My Boy Lollipop. It's absolutely classic.
