I hate being late for the party. This time it's the 1 May local elections. They're very nearly upon us again. And what are we doing about them in Southend? Not that much, really. We're organising some last-minute leafleting to encourage people to vote, but nothing spectacular.
We've been so preoccupied with writing our annual strategy plan and agreeing contract arrangements for the year that I didn't see it coming. So I've missed the boat.
I shouldn't need to tell you that local elections are really important events. We've got a big vested interest in them. Elected members are the people with the real power to transform, among other things, youth work.
