The Daily Mail strikes again. Everyone's favourite impartial and non-biased read has excelled itself this week by running a full-page article on a south Wales family consisting of 45-year-old grandmother Pauline Rees and her two daughters, aged 16 and 19, who both have two children each.

According to the rather throat-clearing diatribe, Rees and her youngerdaughter, Sky, live "for free" in next-door council houses and rake in13,000 a year each in benefits. Older sister Gillian, who hasmoved away, "insists she did not get pregnant for financialbenefit".

The Mail rather grudgingly concedes all three women do in fact havehusbands, which somewhat spoils their party and ruins any single-mumbarbs. But the gallant newspaper fights back, quoting 16-year-old Sky assaying having children has given her "a welcome distraction fromwatching television" as there's not much to do in the local area.

Presumably The Mail would prefer Sky to fulfil the newspaper's othermuch-loved role for teenagers and be out on the streets taking drugs andmenacing grannies, rather than, in her very own words, feeling "goodabout bringing life into the world".
