The Daily Mail offered us a lesson in biased reporting in its coverage of new guidance for GPs, which supports young patients' right to confidentiality and make decisions about treatment.

The guidance "is the first time the medical establishment has given its blessing to the growing practice of GPs handing out condoms and authorising abortions for teenage girls," says the Mail, which adds "family groups" have condemned it as "wicked". But who are these family groups? One is Christian Voice.

Spokesman Stephen Green says: "The idea of using contraception to stop the spread of disease is a dead duck. It will lead to more abortions, more sexual diseases and more infertility."

The only other organisation quoted in the story is Family and Youth Concern, a trust that supports "the traditional family" and parents' right to be involved in all decisions about their children's welfare. Could it be they don't like the guidance either?
