It's official - children are cleverer than chimps. As if it were ever in any doubt, the Manchester Evening News has published the results of a study conducted by German, Spanish and American scientists pitting the wits of simians against two-year-old toddlers.
According to the report, the children "trounced" the orangutans in tests gauging the ability to learn from others, communicate and understand what another individual is thinking. Apparently the children were far more proficient at, er, apeing the scientists who demonstrated the tasks.
