Many Western children today will never have heard of HIV or AIDS. To many teenagers, it is something which they see once in a while on telly, but is not part of the reality of their lives. Some may say that children don't need to know about HIV, just as they don't need sex education. Yet we are seeing record levels of sexually transmitted infections among young people, which tells us that unprotected sex is still happening and the risk of HIV infection is still very real. There are currently hundreds of children living in silence with HIV in the UK.
